Lecture on ‘Buddhism in modern life’.

Lecture on ‘Buddhism in modern life’.

Buddhists usually describe themselves as happy people. However, embracing Buddhism does not magically change the world around us so that it conforms to our desires. So what exactly does change?

To be a Buddhist, you don’t have to wear special clothes, change your eating habits, or give up material goods and social life. It’s a change in our perception – the ability to not take the obstacles in our path too seriously and to see the world around us as something interesting and full of possibilities. This is easy to say, but not always easy to do.

By understanding the teachings and using techniques such as meditation, Buddhists gradually change the way they look at everything that happens in life. It’s not a matter of putting on rose-coloured glasses, but of removing the veil that prevents us from seeing things as they really are.

Diamond Way Buddhists are lay people, often with families and regular jobs, who integrate Buddhist practices into their daily lives.

‘Buddhism in everyday life’ is the topic of an upcoming lecture to be given by Elena Leontieva, a disciple of Lama Ole Nydahl and a Diamond Way Buddhist teacher from Russia.

The lecture will be held in Russian with translation into English.
